ARK Invest published a long-range forecast projecting Bitcoin's market cap will reach $16 trillion by 2030, a figure that implies a coin price of roughly $760,000 and a more than 10-fold increase from today's levels. The projection sits in ARK's base case, with a bull scenario pushing significantly higher and a bear case still implying several hundred thousand dollars per coin by the end of the decade.

The central driver ARK identifies is institutional adoption through channels that barely existed three years ago. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF balances grew 19.7% in 2025, from roughly 1.12 million to 1.29 million BTC, while public company holdings rose 73% over the same period to approximately 1.09 million BTC. Together, institutional vehicles now account for about 12% of total Bitcoin supply, a concentration ARK says will keep growing as sovereign wealth funds, endowments, and pension allocators follow early movers.

The digital gold narrative forms the backbone of ARK's long-range math. Gold's total market capitalization sits near $20 trillion, and ARK estimates Bitcoin could capture roughly 40% of that value as a digitally native alternative with a fixed supply and increasingly liquid global markets. Even small percentage allocations within the roughly $200 trillion global investment portfolio would translate to trillions in additional demand, a point the firm uses to argue that the $16 trillion target requires no dramatic shift in investor behavior, only continuation of the trend already underway.

ARK also sees the broader crypto market reaching approximately $28 trillion by 2030, with tokenized real-world assets and DeFi protocols contributing meaningfully beyond Bitcoin. The firm identifies the next two regulatory cycles in the U.S. and Europe as the key variable determining whether institutional adoption accelerates or plateaus, which is why legislative progress on market structure bills carries implications well beyond near-term price action.
