Strategy Inc., the bitcoin-heavy company led by Michael Saylor, disclosed a new purchase of 2,486 BTC, valued at about $168.4 million, lifting its total holdings to 717,131 BTC.

The buys were made between Feb. 9 and Feb. 16, at an average price of roughly $67,710 per coin, according to the company’s latest filing.

Preferred Stock Covered Nearly Half Of The Purchase

The latest purchase was notable for how it was financed. Strategy raised about $78.4 million through at-the-market sales of its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC), while another $90.5 million came from selling Class A common stock (MSTR)

That means preferred stock funded roughly 46% of the transaction, which is one of the heavier mixes Strategy has used in recent weekly buys, as the company tries to broaden its funding channels beyond common-share issuance.

The Stretch preferred product pays a variable dividend currently set at 11.25%, adjusted monthly and paid monthly, according to Strategy’s product description.

Saylor Teased The Move Ahead Of The Filing

Saylor again hinted at the purchase ahead of time with a cryptic “99>98” post tied to the company’s bitcoin tracker, a pattern he’s used before prior acquisition disclosures.

Context: Buying Continues Despite A Weaker Tape

The update lands as bitcoin has been trading around the mid-$60,000s to high-$60,000s, and Strategy has recently reported a $12.4 billion net loss for the fourth quarter of 2025, driven largely by the accounting impact of bitcoin’s price decline.
