Tether has added roughly $70 million in Bitcoin to its reserves, lifting its total holdings above 97,000 BTC, according to reports published on April 15. The latest purchase adds to the company’s long-running strategy of directing part of its profits into Bitcoin.
With the new addition, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin now holds more than $7.1 billion worth of Bitcoin. The purchase keeps Tether among the largest corporate-style Bitcoin holders in the market and further expands the role of BTC inside its reserve structure.
Tether has said since 2023 that it plans to recycle up to 15% of its profits into Bitcoin. The company’s public transparency page says its reserves exceed liabilities, while Bitcoin remains one of several assets held alongside more traditional reserve components.
